The oral presentation's abstract entitled "Design, synthesis, and SAR of novel benzimidazole based HDAC inhibitors" highlighted the synthesis, SAR and biological profiles of SB639 series, one of S*BIO's orally active HDAC inhibitor series.

S*BIO presented 2 posters at the upcoming EORTC-NCI-AACR Symposium on "Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics" in Prague. These posters entitled "Pharmacological profile of SB939, a novel potent and orally active histone deacetylase inhibitor" and "ADME and PK/PD attributes of SB939, a potent orally active HDAC inhibitor" presented for the first time the attractive pharmacological and pharmacokinetic profile of S*BIO's lead histone deacetylase inhibitor, SB939.

Workshop on Molecular Targets for Cancer, European Commission DG RTD, CRP Santé |

Dr Jeanette Wood, Head of Biology, was one of the 22 distinguished invited speakers participating in this workshop. She gave a presentation entitled "Targeted therapies with potentially broad applications: how can the development strategy be focused?" and used histones deacetylase inhibitors as one example. She also chaired the closing round table discussion on challenges of developing novel molecular targets into applications.

Run For Hope 2006 |

Supporting cancer research in the lab and on the road
For the second year running, S*BIO supported the Run For Hope 2006 (previously named Terry Fox Run), which is dedicated to raising funds for cancer control, treatment and care. Support was provided through participation in the 9KM Competitive Race, the 5KM Fun Run and through sponsoring for the event.

The poster entitled "A Web-based docking interface for the bench chemist" discussed a proprietary tool used for structure-based drug design and for communicating ideas on novel compounds within the company.
